Weight Loss Tips
June 27th, 2007
Below is a quick list of 10 tips that can help in the battle against the bulge. Outside of supplementation, diet and exercise the following tips can aid you in your quest to look and feel your best. Give them a try and let us know how they work. Feel free to respond with tips of your own.
1. Set realistic goals for yourself. Without goals you are moving forward half blindly and just waiting for things to happen. Setting goals gives you something definitive to shoot for. You can lose 10 pounds in a day by working out for 14 straight hours and sucking on an ice cube and having a stick of celery for desert. But who would do that? It is not practical or realistic. Remember who won the race…it was the tortoise you silly rabbit – Trix are for kids (I could not help myself, please forgive me!). Be realistic about your goals and remember any progress towards your goals is success. Meaning if your goal is to lose 10 lbs. in one month and you lose 8, that is still progression. Focus on the good and make adjustments so you accomplish your next set of goals. Attrition wins, just like our tortoise slow and steady wins the race. 2. Walk as much as you can. When going to the grocery store or mall park as far away from the store/mall as possible. This sounds somewhat trivial, but the little extra bit you walk keeps the metabolism on fat burning mode. Over the course of weeks, months and years, it makes a difference.
3. Take a break. Many of us have computer/desk jobs. Sitting down all day slows down our metabolism. Take your breaks and stretch for 5 minutes or so and take a walk outside for 5 minutes or so. Stretching keeps your body healthy, relieves stress and actually speeds recovery from the rigors of exercise. And of course walking aids in burning calories and keeping your metabolism going.
4. Enjoy your food by eating slowly. Many of us are on the go and move all the time. Let’s face it we live in a fast paced, hectic world. When having a meal – SLOW DOWN! Many of us scarf down our foods. This does not give us enough time to let satiation to set in and some times can trigger binge eating. Slowing down and chewing your food as opposed to scarfing it down allows for better digestion by aiding the release of digestive enzymes and allows for your satisfaction for hunger to be filled.
5. Weigh in daily. Many will tell you to ignore the scale and just look at the mirror. This approach works well for some, but by weighing in daily you know exactly where you are at in terms of goals, so you can make adjustments daily as opposed to weekly or monthly in case things are not going your way. This practice also keeps you focused so you are less likely to slip. The key is to weigh in on the same scale at the same time of day. Preferably first thing in the morning in your draws after you have eliminated the toxins – if you know what I mean. Your weight will fluctuate, but by weighing in at the same time day in and day out your weight will be more accurate and from one Tuesday to the next, if your goal is to lose 2 lbs., you should not be at the same weight or up. So stay on top of things.
6. SLEEP! I know we use the slogan DON’T SLEEP, but more and more studies are showing adequate sleeps helps you lose weight. Not only does a good nights rest allow you to physically and mentally recharge, but inadequate sleep interferes with hormones that control appetite and nighttime binging – leptin and ghrelin. A lack of leptin and increase in ghrelin boost appetite and overeating. The moral of the story, get more sleep (control leptin and ghrelin) and lose weight!
7. Indulge sensibly. If you have a craving for a BK Quad Stacker or slice of cheesecake, it is ok
8. Stay active. Incorporate other activities outside the gym that keep you active, burning calories and just as importantly having fun. Play hoops, join soft ball team, play tennis with a friend, go for a swim or a bike ride, etc… Pick up some active hobbies that get you
9. Get motivated. Take a before picture and progress pictures. Also put up a picture that motivates you. This may be a hot female that you want to attract or the physique and look of an actor or athlete you would like to look like. Use these tools as well as anything else creative that you can do that stimulates you to make a change for the better and follow through. Think about this. Thousands of individuals, if not more just like you have gone from having rolly polly dumpy physiques
10. Read the MAN manifesto of enlightenment. Add to it, write your own and start your day off with it and end with it. This will get your mind thinking in the right direction and program your subconscious mind to be strong and one that will transmute in its physical equivalence the actions you want!
Responsibility to ourselves
June 5th, 2007
I would like to share one of my favorite quotes, that I feel positively reflects what we are trying to represent here at MAN Sports:
“There are some who wish to learn for no other reason than that they may be looked upon as learned, which is a ridiculous vanity…..Others desire to learn that they may morally instruct others; that is love. And lastly, there are some who wish to learn that they may be themselves edified; and that is prudence.”
St. Bernard of Clairvaux, France c. 1145
Trans. S. J. Eales
The significance of this quote is the fundamental need to educate ourselves and make ethical decisions in our personal lives and business through knowledge and not ignorance. As individuals, we can never hope to positively influence others, and effectively direct our own lives if we ourselves lack the mental fortitude to do so; “Knowledge is Power” (MAN MANIFESTO #4). In business, it is also about trust. We want to educate our customers, to bestow them with the power to make informed decisions, whether it is with us, or someone else. Anyone can get a customer to buy once, but it’s getting them to come back for a second glass that creates the lasting relationships.
Anyhow, if you are reading this rant, and I haven’t yet lost your interest, I thank you.
I welcome all your feedback and any open discussion.

Obstacles
May 16th, 2007
Life certainly presents challenges for us all on a daily basis. To quote the great Grand Master Flash, “It is like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from going under”.
Well, you keep from going under by taking control of your thought process. It truly is the one thing “healthy” people not suffering from mental medical conditions or disorders, which cannot be taken away. You control your thought process and as a result your actions, which ideally should be executed with thought. Challenges will present themselves in many different ways or fashions. For some, it is a Krispy Kreme donut when we are trying to lose weight, for others it is a Marlboro Light, and others it may be promiscuity or adultery. Regardless of the temptation or challenge that you are confronted with, you can be successful in overcoming these obstacles. But it has to start with a state of mind, which is really what success is.
Our Manifesto of Enlightenment speaks of obstacles and barriers as an opportunity to prove oneself. I believe this so much to be true. For a fighter that is down 11 rounds to 0 and up against the ropes in the 12th, he (or she) needs to keep firing and somehow dig down deep and find something that they even did not know they possessed in order to overcome and be triumphant. This is a champion. When you really do not know what you have left, but you say FUCK IT, I am laying it all out on the line and I just do not give a fuck what happens to me, this is my destiny, this is what I want, know and believe and I am going to get it no matter what. That is a state of mind, which is success. Your effort identifies whether you are a winner or a loser. If some dude is whooping my ass every round, but I keep coming and firing and give it my all, really everything I have and still lost, I can look at myself in the mirror without shame, shake the dude’s hand and just swallow it and come back stronger next time. However, if I got my bell rung and bitched up because I was scurred (scared for the hip impaired), than I need and should be disgusted with my lack of man-hood.
This game of life I believe to be rigged to see us fail. Opportunities will always exist, however the amount of obstacles and barriers that one must overcome become, greater and more frequent. Just look at inflation, gas prices, and the feminization of America (more on that in a later rant). However, if you truly want something… And I mean really want it, you can make it happen and the way to do that is by taking control of your state of mind. And that state of mind and starting point to achievent starts with Desire. You gotta want it, really want something in order to get it. Outside of the sliver spoon fed elitists in this world, nothing is going to be given to you. You have to take and earn what it is that you want.
The moral of this rant is to recognize no such word as can’t, impossible, and certainly do not accept any such reality as failure or defeat. SEE IT. BELIEVE IT. ACHIEVE IT. Get in the trenches and make it happen!
BLUEPRINT Initial Feedback
March 17th, 2007
Ok, so we just released BluePrint which features a new compound called Agmatine. This is basically Arginine with the Carboxylic Acid molecule removed. I encourage you all to go through our forum and read Dana’s Slide Show and be on the look out for an article by Dana and myself to be followed with a Round Table Discussion with Shawn (Androgenic), Dana (dinoii) and yours truly about Agmatine regarding the who, what, why etc…
Now, Agmatine plays a role in about 19 biochemical processes in the body, about 13 of them are applicable to the fitness enthusiast and health care concious individual.
What I can tell you from first hand experience is that I am noticing tremendous vascularity and muscle fullness from the use of BluePrint. My muscles seem to maintain there pump from my workouts longer and I just look flat out fuller even on off days. It is almost like my muscles maintain that look when I get out of a hot shower around the clock.
Another thing I notice is that I am in a better mood all day and that it seems to kick Scorch up a notch, making the stimulatory effects of my Scorch/BluePrint regimine much more pronounced.
Now again, we will reveal exactly why these effects are taking place so stayed tuned. I just wanted to give some love to our Blog section and let those of you interested know what it is doing for me.
The search for the Holy Grail…has ended
